The Fabric

We are very fond of decorating our homes. The mandatory change before any festival is the decor. Bedsheets, curtains, sofa covers, doormats, carpets and everything has to be changed. We carefully choose every element to have the perfect color coordination in the decor. But seldom we know, how each of these products are affecting the ecosystem inside our homes.

Believe it or not, but there are Eco-friendly and non-Eco-friendly fabrics. And these types influence the environment inside our homes. You might have noticed a temperature difference while visiting someone’s else’s house. Not just other houses, but different rooms in our house also have varying temperatures. Among several other factors, the fabric used in the home, affects the room temperature.

Synthetic fibers are made of petroleum-based synthetics like polyester, nylon, and rayon. Although you might not be able to see it, but these fabric-types emit chemicals or toxins. Whereas  fabrics made of natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk, and wool help in keeping the temperature low and the environment healthy.

The type of fabric is as important as its maintenance. Regular washing and cleaning the linen with disinfectants will help to maintain a clean environment. It will also control the temperature and as a result cut down your electricity usage as well as emission from air conditioners.
