Quite often, we spend most of our time and energy in finding the right kind of home, in a strategic location with a well reputed builder. But, is your dream abode vastu complaint? Vastu Shastra has been for ages considered as the ideal way to do-up your home. It is a traditional system of architecture, which literally translates to “science of architecture” and describe principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation and space.

Vastu Shastra combines all the five elements of nature and balances them with the man and the material. It creates a congenial settings or a place to live. The good news is its easy to incorporate Vastu-Shastra in your home space . In this blog we will share few important Vastu tips with you, which you can incorporate easily into your home space.

Vastu for drawing room: Morning sunlight and positive vibrations- two very important components for a holistic home. For a steady flow of the above mentioned components its important that your drawing room should be in the east or north direction. Heavy articles of furniture or decoration should be in the West or the South direction. If you are keen on adding a chandelier to your decor, ensure it is not right in the middle of the room. A portrait of waterfall in the north east corner of your home will also be a great addition.

Vastu for bedroom: The ideal direction for the master bedroom is the South-West part of the house. South-West represents the element of Earth and helps attract peace. Also, one should sleep with head towards South, East or West and never to the North. Avoid placing any kind of beam over the bed as it may negatively affect your health. Keep all electronic gadgets at a distance from the bed as the electro- magnetic waves emitted by them may disturb your sleep patterns. Another important thing to remember is that there should not be any mirror in front of the bed.

Vastu for Kitchen: South-East portion of the house is ideal for kitchen. Place water sink in the North-East direction while the larger windows in the kitchen should be in Eastern side. Avoid placing dining table in the centre of the kitchen, instead locate it in the North-West direction. There should be no toilets and bathrooms adjoining, above or below the kitchen. Also ensure that the door of the kitchen never faces the door of the toilet.

Vastu for Children’s room: A child’s room should always be facing towards the West. Keep your child’s bed in South-West portion of the room and let your child sleep with head towards South or East direction. This will ensure peace of mind. Avoid keeping any exposed mirror in your child’s room. Also, study table should either face East or North-East and should be clutter- free in order to boost concentration.

Vastu for Bathrooms: Ideally bathrooms should be placed in the Eastern portion of the house and toilets should be either in the West or the north-west side. However, if you have an attached toilet in the bathroom, then WC should be in the West or North-West side. The slope of the bathroom floor should be towards the North and East so the water drains to the Northeast side of the bathroom.
