In the list of 100 cities across India which the government is planning to renovate into smart cities, Pune also has a mention. Kochi Smart City, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Ahmedabad, Naya Raipur in Chhattishgarh are some of the recently established smart cities in the country. In Maharashtra, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad, Bhivandi and Mumbai have been identified as potential smart cities.
A smart city is marked by certain technological advancements. One can expect a Smart Pune to have good infrastructure and ready amenities such as water, sanitation, energy, transport, public safety, education and health care. A well-planned technology driven integration of all these for efficient governance along with smart parking and traffic management, smart grids, smart lighting, efficient waste management, are some essential features of a smart city. But the most essential feature is development in tune with environmental sustainability.
Real estate in Pune will certainly be affected if the city turns into a Smart City. It can be a good idea to invest in properties in Pune and nearby satellite towns and suburbs.
